Farm Trace Bypass and Detention - Richton Park, IL

The Farm Trace subdivision, with an upstream tributary area of approximately 150 acres, was constructed without provisions for bypassing upstream flows. Flooding of streets, yards and homes had been reported throughout the subdivision. The Village of Richton Park retained Clark Dietz to provide hydraulic analysis, engineering design and the preparation of bidding documents for stormwater drainage improvements.

The design for the Farm Trace Bypass Storm Sewer included permitting, excavation, sheeting, shoring, dewatering, installation, testing, backfilling and restoration for the bypass storm sewer installation as well as excavation, grading and restoration for drainage swale improvements. An intergovernmental agreement with neighboring Park Forest was obtained and installation of a large detention pond to provide increased stormwater storage prior to leaving the Village of Richton Park.
